His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, participated in the 17th edition of the MEDays Summit, held in Tangier from November 26 to 27, 2025.
Under the theme “Fractures & Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation”, this international gathering stood out as a strategic platform for dialogue. More than 300 high-level personalities – Heads of State and Government, ministers, Nobel laureates, corporate leaders, and experts – engaged with over 7,000 participants from 120 countries.

A Prestigious Distinction

President Boakai was awarded the Grand Prix MEDays 2025, a distinction recognizing Liberia’s leadership alongside The Gambia and Somalia. This international honor highlights the country’s renewed commitment to stability and democratic governance across the African continent.

High-Level Discussions

The Summit’s program featured more than 50 sessions covering geopolitics, economics, energy, climate, and global governance. The Liberian delegation contributed actively to the debates, particularly on two major priorities:

  • Reforming global governance and strengthening economic sovereignty, with emphasis on climate resilience and innovative development financing.
  • Consolidating South-South cooperation, through investment promotion, stronger multilateral partnerships, and shared geopolitical strategies.

Strategic Visit to Tanger Med Ports

On the margins of the Summit, President Boakai visited the Tanger Med Ports, a world-class logistics hub. Guided by CEO Mr. Mehdi Tazi Riffi, he observed the progress and expansion achieved since the early 2000s, offering valuable insights for Liberia’s own infrastructure and port development agenda.

Participation of the Liberian Delegation in Morocco

President Boakai was officially accompanied by His Excellency Joseph F. Johnson, Liberia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco and Head of the Diplomatic Mission. His presence underscored the active participation of the Liberian diplomatic mission and strengthened the country’s visibility in this international setting.
