  • Liberian Embassy in Morocco Officially Celebrates July 26 for the First Time

Ambassador Joseph Johnson Independence Address 1

For the very first time since its establishment in the Kingdom of Morocco, the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Rabat hosted an official celebration of Liberia’s Independence Day. Marking the 179th anniversary of independence, the weekend was filled with activities that honored Liberia’s history, strengthened community ties, and promoted African unity.

A Historic Milestone for the Rabat Mission

The official Independence Day ceremony took place in Rabat, bringing together diplomats, members of the Liberian community, and friends of Liberia. This event represents a significant milestone for the Mission, highlighting its commitment to deepening relations between Liberia and Morocco.

Community-Oriented Initiatives

Beyond the ceremony, the Embassy organized a community medical outreach, offering support to Liberians living in Morocco. This initiative reflects the Mission’s dedication to serving its citizens and fostering solidarity.

Another highlight was the launch of the Embassy’s Consular Identification Card, designed to provide Liberian citizens with easier access to consular services. This step marks tangible progress in protecting and assisting Liberians abroad.

Sports as a Bridge of Friendship

The celebration also extended to Kenitra, where a friendship soccer match was held between the Liberian and South Sudanese communities. More than just a game, the match symbolized fraternity and African solidarity, strengthening bonds between neighboring communities.

A Message of Unity and Prosperity

In his Independence Day address, H.E. Ambassador Joseph F. Johnson emphasized that Liberia’s future depends on Liberian-led leadership, national unity, and collective commitment to excellence and innovation.

“As we celebrate 179 years of independence, we remain committed to strengthening the bonds of friendship between Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco while working together to build a stronger and more prosperous Liberia.”

This first official celebration of July 26 in Morocco marks a historic step for the Liberian community. It reflects the Embassy’s mission to combine national remembrance, citizen service, and openness to Africa and the wider world.
