Rabat, April 7, 2026 – The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Rabat welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Liberian Senate, led by the President Pro Tempore, Hon. Nyomblee Karngar-Lawrence, for a strategic diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and addressing the welfare of Liberians in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The visiting delegation included Hon. Abraham Darius Dillon, Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Hon. Jonathan “Boye-Charles” Sogbie, Chair of the Senate Committee on Maritime. Upon arrival at the Chancery, the delegation was received by H.E. Ambassador Joseph F. Johnson and the mission’s diplomatic staff.

The visit followed the Conference of Associations of African Senates (CAAS) 2026, a forum dedicated to fostering regional integration, promoting democratic governance, and harmonizing legislative frameworks across Africa. Since its inception, CAAS has served as a vital platform for African upper houses to exchange best practices in diplomacy and socio-economic development.

During a formal briefing at the Liberian Embassy, the delegation was updated on:
- The welfare of the Liberian diaspora in Morocco.
- The wellbeing of Liberian students enrolled under the Moroccan scholarship program.
- Challenges related to irregular migration and the complexities of illegal migration routes in the region.
Ambassador Johnson and the Senate leadership emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns and the creation of domestic opportunities to deter citizens from undertaking dangerous journeys.
