Liberia and Morocco Fortify Strategic Security Alliance

Liberian Inspector General Of Police At Bcij Headquarters

Rabat, March 31, 2026 – In a landmark step toward strengthening regional stability and combating transnational crime, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Liberia conducted a high-level working visit to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), headquartered in Salé near Rabat. Often referred to as the “Moroccan FBI,” the BCIJ serves as the judicial arm of the DGST and plays a pivotal role in Morocco’s security architecture.

This visit builds on earlier engagements with the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and represents a decisive move toward finalizing a comprehensive security cooperation agreement between Liberia and Morocco.

Expanding Cooperation in Security and Forensics

The Liberian delegation also visited the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police (LNPST) in Casablanca, where discussions focused on advanced forensic methodologies and intelligence-gathering techniques.

  • Key pillars of cooperation included:
  • Advanced substance analysis
  • Forensic toxicology
  • Counter-terrorism and forensic chemistry
  • Ballistics identification
  • Digital evidence and cyber-forensics
  • Document and currency integrity
  • Rigorous chain of custody
  • Digital traceability (LIMS)
  • International training and cooperation

A Shared Commitment to Modernization

The meetings underscored a joint commitment to modernizing law enforcement and enhancing Africa’s collective security capacity.

“This visit marks a new era of Moroccan-Liberian synergy. By aligning our security protocols and sharing the Kingdom’s advanced forensic capabilities, we are building a more secure Africa,” stated H.E. Joseph F. Johnson, Liberian Ambassador to Morocco.

This strategic alliance reaffirms Morocco’s role as a regional leader in security and highlights Liberia’s proactive stance in modernizing its national police force to meet 21st-century challenges.
