On January 29, 2026, His Excellency Fafré Camara, Ambassador of the Republic of Mali to the Kingdom of Morocco, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Joseph Fayiah Johnson, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia, at the newly inaugurated premises of the Liberian Embassy in Hay Riad, Rabat.
This meeting was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and consolidate the historic ties that unite the two nations. Discussions focused on matters of common interest, particularly regional cooperation in peace and security as well as the importance of African unity within international institutions.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Mali recalled a significant moment in African diplomacy in 2011/2012, when Liberia, in a gesture of regional solidarity, withdrew its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council in favor of Niger. This strategic decision, praised as an act of leadership and responsibility, illustrates Liberia’s commitment to the spirit of “One Africa” and remains a notable example of African consensus in international representation.
The two Ambassadors concluded their meeting by reaffirming their determination to pursue close cooperation within the diplomatic community in Morocco and to work jointly to promote the interests of the Sahel and West African regions.
