For the first time in history, the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Rabat will host an official Independence Day celebration on Moroccan soil. This landmark two‑day program, set for July 25–26, 2026, commemorates Liberia’s 179th Independence Anniversary and highlights the growing partnership between Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco.
A Historic Milestone
Under the national motto “Strengthening National Identity through Liberian‑led Historical Leadership”, the celebration aims to unite the Liberian diaspora, diplomatic partners, Moroccan friends, and members of the international community. More than a commemoration, it is a symbol of resilience, unity, and pride.
Day One: Sports and Solidarity
On Saturday, July 25, the festivities begin with a football match at Terrain de Proximité Le Vallon, Kenitra, where the Liberian Community team will face the South Sudanese Community team. This spirited showdown embodies African brotherhood and cultural exchange.
Alongside the match, Liberian medical professionals will lead a free medical checkup initiative, offering health screenings and consultations to community members. This humanitarian outreach reflects the excellence and generosity of Liberian doctors working within Morocco’s healthcare system.
Day Two: Official Address and Consular Innovation
On Sunday, July 26, His Excellency Ambassador Joseph F. Johnson will deliver the official Independence Day Address, reflecting on Liberia’s democratic journey, historical resilience, and vision for the future.
The day will also mark the launch of the new Consular Card for Liberians living in Morocco, designed to improve identification and consular services. For the first time, diplomats and locally employed staff will also receive official employee ID cards, strengthening institutional recognition.
A Call to Participate
The Embassy invites Liberian nationals, students, resident foreign nationals, media representatives, and friends of Liberia to join these historic celebrations. As Ambassador Johnson emphasized:
