Rabat, October 21, 2025 – The Republic of Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco have taken a significant step forward in strengthening their bilateral relations with the signing of a landmark defense cooperation agreement. This first-of-its-kind accord marks the beginning of a structured partnership aimed at enhancing military capabilities and promoting regional stability.
A strong political commitment
The official signing ceremony took place in Rabat, in the presence of Brigadier General (Ret.) Geraldine Janet George, Minister of National Defense of Liberia, and Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate in charge of the Administration of National Defense of Morocco. This high-level engagement reflects the shared determination of both nations to build a lasting and strategic defense partnership.
A multidimensional framework for cooperation
The agreement outlines several key areas of collaboration:
- Military Training and Education: Implementation of joint training programs and exchange of expertise to strengthen the operational readiness of armed forces.
- Technical Assistance: Cooperation in defense technologies and military equipment.
- Logistical Support: Assistance for peacekeeping operations and humanitarian missions.
- Peacekeeping Engagement: Coordinated participation in United Nations missions and other multilateral initiatives.
Mechanisms for implementation and coordination
To ensure effective implementation, a joint military commission will be established. Its mandate will include monitoring progress, identifying new opportunities for cooperation, and facilitating operational coordination. Additionally, military attachés will be appointed in both capitals to reinforce bilateral communication channels.
