The Embassy of Liberia in Rabat joined the diplomatic community in a solemn ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya to honor the memory of Raila Amollo Odinga, a renowned Kenyan statesman who passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 80.
Held at the Kenyan Embassy in Rabat, the ceremony marked the official opening of the Book of Condolence, allowing dignitaries, government representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps to pay their final respects to a towering figure in African political life.
Raila Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya (2008–2013) and Leader of the Opposition (2013–2017), dedicated his life to the defense of democracy, human rights, and social justice. His unwavering commitment left a lasting mark on Kenya’s political history and inspired generations of leaders across the continent.

n the absence of His Excellency Ambassador Joseph F. Johnson, the Embassy of Liberia was represented by Mr. Charles B. Blake, Commercial Counselor, who signed the Book of Condolence on behalf of the Liberian mission. On this occasion, Mr. Blake conveyed, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, heartfelt condolences to the people of Kenya and the Odinga family, honoring Mr. Odinga’s legacy as a public servant and builder of democratic institutions.
The ceremony was marked by an atmosphere of reflection and solidarity, underscoring the deep respect held for Mr. Odinga by the diplomatic community and Kenya’s African partners.
