Ambassador Liberia Johnson

Ambassador Joseph Fayiah Johnson

His Excellency Ambassador Joseph Fayiah Johnson is a distinguished diplomat, national security strategist, and financial management executive with over two decades of high-level leadership spanning the public, private, and international security sectors. He currently serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Morocco, where he drives strategic bilateral relations, economic diplomacy, and regional tech and security cooperation.

Prior to his diplomatic appointment, Ambassador Johnson built an exemplary career in public service and national defense. From 2012 to 2018, he served as the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Liberia, playing a pivotal role in post-conflict military restructuring, institutional governance, and resource allocation. His public sector tenure also includes serving as Comptroller for the Ministry of Agriculture from 2009 to 2012, where he managed complex fiscal portfolios and strengthened financial accountability frameworks.

In the private sector, Ambassador Johnson has demonstrated a strong track record in corporate security and turnaround management. He previously served as the Security Manager for the Liberia Agricultural Company (LAC) in Grand Bassa County and successfully led the Cocopa Rubber Company in Nimba County as Head of the Interim Management Team. His foundational leadership and operational discipline were forged during his distinguished service in the United States Army’s elite Special Operations Aviation Regiment-Airborne (SOAR-A), headquartered at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

A committed lifelong learner, Ambassador Johnson holds an MBA in Finance from the Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Liberia. His academic foundation was shaped by his formative years at the College of West Africa (Class of 1984), the Lott Carey Baptist Mission School, and St. Philomena Elementary School in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

To complement his extensive practical experience, Ambassador Johnson has completed specialized executive education programs at premier international institutions. He holds advanced certificates in Defense Resource Management from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California; National and International Security from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Strengthening Regional Security Initiatives in Africa from the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) in Washington, D.C.
